Courts and Tribunal Service
The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS), established by section 60(1) of the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008, is a body corporate, which is part of the Scottish Administration but not part of the Scottish Government.
Main responsibilities include assisting the Lord President and Sheriffs Principal in managing the court programming of the judiciary, accommodation, staff and cases across the range of court business, ensuring the efficient disposal of business.
SCTS provides the administrative support in criminal and civil courts, including children’s hearing cases and appeals, recording the court procedure and administering the necessary papers following the decision of the court. The court will liaise with the Reporter regarding court dates and in order to ensure that any special accessibility or support needs may be met.
Suitable accommodation is provided for those attending court and information on progress is relayed to those who require to wait for their case to commence.
