Improving Children’s Hearings:
½ day – a multi-agency approach to bringing ‘Better Hearings’ to life within a local authority area.
Selected representatives from social work / the Reporter / the Panel / young people with care experience / parent’s groups / advocacy services / children’s rights officer / solicitors / Police Scotland / Sheriff / Safeguarders / third sector / education / health will speak about what will make a better hearing in their area and will also speak about what can be done to make change and to demonstrate that change is successful.
There is time for questions / answers and potentially for some case study work around improving the experience of children & families coming to children’s hearings or other aspects of the children’s hearing in a local authority area.
Presenters will be determined according to the identified priorities within a local area and can / should vary.
The panel discussion can be focussed on a topic or issue or can be very broad. Questions for the panel can be prepared in advance.
Some sample case study work is available, but local discussions or action tables can be develop according to local needs.
The training is suited to social workers and other partners who have a role in improving the experience at hearings. The timings below are indicative and can be varied.
